Going places

‘Going Places’ is a Business English textbook which calls at all relevant stops. It includes eight thematic chapters, featuring authentic texts and audiovisual extracts with matching field-specific vocabulary lists. This activating reader material guides students to communication exercises that build up to professional texts on a wide range of business-related topics such as organizational culture, T-shaped teams, market segmentation and hedge funds. 

An extensive communication section details both basic and more specialized oral and written skills and genres, from writing a letter to holding a meeting, giving a presentation and organizing a workshop. Essential grammatical structures in Business English are concisely covered, focusing on relevant issues that are quite challenging for speakers of Dutch. In addition, two hands-on sections offer key advice on pronunciation and spelling.

Mieke Rosselle, Geert Jacobs, Olaf Du Pont, Seppe Goddaert and Sofie Verkest work in the Linguistics Department at Ghent University. They teach Business English at the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration. They have also authored ‘Get Down to Business English’ and ‘Deal! The Bottom Line of Business English’.
