De bedoeling van dit woordenboek is Nederlandstaligen die met Centraal- of Oost-Afrika te maken hebben te helpen in hun contacten met de mensen daar. De meest gebruikte Kiswahili-woorden zijn opgenomen. Het woordenboek is het resultaat van meer dan dertig jaar Kiswahili-onderwijs. Het aantal ‘ingangen’ is nu 6758. Dat moet volstaan om een Kiswahili-krant vlot te lezen of gemakkelijk te luisteren naar een radio-uitzending in het Kiswahili.
